Crown of the Heavens - the upcoming expansion for the WoW TCG - is set to release on February 12, 2012. The expansion was originally supposed to ship in March of 2012, but the Cryptozoic site is now reporting February 12th, but that date is subject to change.
For those of you that feel as if the loot has been a little lackluster since Cryptozoic took over the WoW TCG, this new expansion may change that notion. Crown of the Heavens will offer three very exciting loot cards, which in my opinion, make for the best loot card trio since Wrathgate.
The three new WoW TCG loot cards from Crown of the Heavens are...
Corrupted Hippogryph - Redeems for a very cool Corrupted Hippogryph flying mount. This mount possesses a similar model to the other Hippogryph mounts in the game, but with its own unique color scheme and eerie sort of "undead" look about it. This is an awesome looking mount, which should be very popular among Undead players and especially Death Knights.
The Corrupted Hippogryph is a very rare loot card, found in only 1 out of 242 booster packs.
Magical Ogre Idol - The Magical Ogre Idol redeems for an item that creates a Red Ogre Mage Costume. The costume transforms your character into an Ogre Mage for 5 minutes. While wearing the Red Ogre Mage Costume, only the character's weapons can be seen. The Red Ogre Mage Costume is wearable in Arenas and BGs. The cooldown on this loot item is 5 minutes.
The Magical Ogre Idol is a rare loot card, found in 1 out of 121 booster packs.
Vicious Grell - This card can be redeemed for a Grell Moss loot item which summons a Gregarious Grell companion pet. This very cool looking companion pet looks very similar to the nasty little buggers that inhabit Teldrassil and parts of Kalimdor. This is the first Grell pet available in WoW, and will most definitely be a sought after loot item for pet collectors. I'm not sure if this pet has any special emotes, but I'd imagine he'll make those creepy demonic Grell noises when clicked on.
Vicious Grell is a common loot card, found in 1 out of 11 booster packs.
Now that the highly anticipated and long awaited Patch 4.3 has finally arrived, images of the Swift Shorestrider are starting to pop up. The other day I posted a preview video of this new WoW TCG mount, but I also wanted to share some of the recent screenshots showing how the various races look atop this new mount. I haven't seen any pics of a Tauren riding on the Swift Shorestrider, but this is a pretty big bird. I doubt it it will look all that odd.

Anyway, I wanted to get these posted because everyone has been starving for photos of this new mount for a few months now. Not sure who's to blame here, but the Throne of the Tides loot did not coincide well with the release of the patch. I've never seen a case of having the loot announced, yet undeveloped, so far ahead of time. They've gotten their act together however, because loot for the next two WoW TCG expansions is already listed in Landro's inventory, and we already know what the pets and mounts are going to look like.
Screenshots of this new mount have been scarce, but even better...I came across a really nice video of this new mount in action.
It's nothing fancy, but you get to watch a forsaken character traipse around the River's Heart in Sholazar Basin, riding atop his sparkly new Swift Shorestrider.
The mount is really pretty cool looking. I think a fancy saddle of some sort would have been a nice touch, but oh well...a turquoise tallstrider still makes for a pretty flashy and premium mount.

The Wasteland Tallstrider loot cards are still selling for under $100, but as I'd mentioned in yesterday's Swift Shorestrider image preview post, I'm willing to bet they'll be closer to $150 by mid-December.
MMO-Champion just announced that Patch 4.3 will be going live this coming Tuesday, and along with this bit of news...images of the new 4.3 mounts were posted as well. Among the various Patch 4.3 mounts...the Swift Shorestrider! It look as if my second guess was correct -- the Swift Shorestrider is the turquoise skin, rather than the ivory model I'd thought it was going to be.

I'd thought that the Swift Springstrider (supposed Noblegarden mount) was going to use the turquoise model, but alas...I was wrong. That said, I'm pleased to see that Blizz is using this skin for the TCG mount. The ivory tallstrider would have been a little blah for a WoW TCG Loot mount.
With Patch 4.3 hitting live servers this Tuesday, the Patch 4.3 TCG loot will finally be redeemable. Those of you that have been waiting to redeem your Wasteland Tallstrider loot cards...Tuesday you'll be able to cash in on this amazing new Swift Shorestrider mount. Grats!
Wasteland Tallstrider loot card prices are really low right now. I expect prices will rise now that we know the mount is going to be using the unusual turquoise skin, as opposed to the much less exciting white model. Right now on eBay you can pick up the Wasteland Tallstrider loot card for under $100, but I suspect that prices will be closer to $150 by the end of next week. Better get it now if you want it!
