Blizzard has just announced a new pet loot item that will be available for purchase in their online store in the upcoming weeks. The pet is called the Guardian Cub – a very cute companion pet to the ever-popular Winged Guardian Mount.
The Guardian Cub pet is going to be available for a limited time, at a cost of $10 — same as the other WoW Pets in the Blizzard Store. However, the Guardian Cub is going to differ from the other Blizz Store pets in one very special way… it will be the first BoE pet available through the Blizzard Store. Yep, that's right… the Guardian Cub will be available for sale and for trade in-game. Sounds to me like Blizzard may be testing the WoW economy as a possible plan to implement a Real Money Auction House, such as they are introducing in Diablo 3.
The other interesting, albeit maybe disappointing difference, is that the Guardian Cub is not Bind on Account. This pet will bind to only one character, so be sure to choose wisely!
When purchasing the Guardian Cub, players will specify a character that they wish to have the pet loot mailed to in-game. After a brief cooldown period, the Guardian Cub will be available for in-game trade, or may be put up for sale on the auction house.
I expect these things to sell like crazy — both to pet collectors and to those looking to make a little extra in-game gold.
