WoW TCG Loot Cards - World of Warcraft Trading Card Game Loot

What Color is the Swift Shorestrider Mount?

November 7, 2011 By Garwulf 1 Comment

That's a question many players are dying to know. As of yet, there have been no screenshots or videos posted of the Wasteland Tallstrider mount loot, so all we can do is guess at this point.

I can tell you what I think, though… if I were to bet on it, my guess would be that this new mount loot is going to be white. I have a feeling that it's going to be the Ivory Tallstrider model – same as I previously predicted.

Wasteland Tallstrider Model?

Swift Shorestrider..?

This is kind of a boring model, so what makes me think this is what will be used for the Swift Shorestrider..?

First up, is the obvious… the Wasteland Tallstrider pictured on the loot card is ivory. The last several mounts have been more or less exact matches to the artwork on the loot cards, unlike many of the old WoW TCG mounts that were released while Upper Deck was putting out the WoW TCG.

There are six Tallstrider skins, and currently four Tallstrider mounts in the game data. Based on this info, we can deduce a bit more…

The 4 Tallstrider mounts are…

  • Swift Forest Strider – This is the other new Tallstrider mount arriving in Patch 4.3. It is available through the Darkmoon Faire at a price of 180 Darkmoon Prize Tickets. The mount matches the model of the Lost Torranche — purple, with green on its neck, chest and underbelly.
  • Swift Lovebird – This is probably going to be a mount that will be available during the Love is in the Air event. I think most will agree that this mount is going to be pink, matching the look of the Mazzranache and the Deviate Plainstriders.
  • Swift Shorestrider – The WoW TCG mount in question. Again, I'm thinking white – mainly based off of the artwork on the loot card.
  • Swift Springstrider – Considering this mount is called a Springstrider, we might assume that it will be available during WoW's Easter-type holiday, Noblegarden. My money is on this mount having the turquoise skin – same as the Strider Clutchmother, and the Swampstriders in the Swamp of Sorrows. This model seems appropriate for the holiday, considering it has somewhat of a colorful Easter Egg like appearance.

If these are the Tallstrider models used for the mounts, then that would leave brown and grey as the only unused models, which would seem about right. Neither of those looks are very exciting.

Turquoise Tallstrider

Or maybe... this one..?

Now… if the Wasteland Tallstrider loot card artwork was not an indicator, then I'd guess the Swift Shorestrider to be the turquoise model. This is because of it being a very unusual and visually striking model, plus it's only found on Tallstriders that live near the coast. Both of those factors would cause me to believe that the turquoise skin would be used for the mount.

But yea… I'm still thinking that it's going to be the ivory skin.

Of course, Blizz could throw a surprise out there and introduce a new skin altogether…

What do you think?

Throne of the Tides: Wasteland Tallstrider Loot Card Preview

September 21, 2011 By Garwulf Leave a Comment

In-game images of the new Wasteland Tallstrider mount have been elusive, but I did manage to spot a pic of the loot card today on eBay. If the artwork is any indication, it looks like this new mount is going to be an ivory colored tallstrider, similar to the tallstriders found in Mulgore and the Northern Barrens.

I also saw another image which a seller posted on ebay that depicted the mount as looking like a Lost Torranche — the purple and green tallstriders found on Sorrow Wing Point, in Terrokar Forest.

To me, that would obviously be a more exciting option – albeit a little flamboyant. However, considering the Wasteland Tallstrider loot card is showing an ivory tallstrider skin, I'm thinking that's what it will probably be. So far, all of the mount loot cards that have been released all have artwork representative of what the mount actually looks like in-game.

Either way, it's going to be an awesome mount, and the very first tallstrider mount available in World of Warcraft.

Wasteland TallstriderAt any rate, we'll know the actual model of the Wasteland Tallstrider pretty soon. Throne of the Tides is set to hit stores on October 11th. In the meantime, I'll be sure to post any pics or video of this exciting new ground mount from the WoW TCG.

The Wasteland Tallstrider is a rare loot card, found in approximately 1 in 242 booster packs of Throne of the Tides.

Sellers are already posting pre-orders on ebay, so grab one up now if you want to be among the first to show off this unique new mount. Average price is under $200 as of right now, which is relatively cheap for mount loot.

Featured Loot: Landro’s Gift Box

September 12, 2011 By Garwulf Leave a Comment

Featured Loot Card: Landro's Gift

Landro's Gift WoW TCG Loot CardLandro's Gift Loot Card is easily one of the most exciting WoW TCG loot cards available. It's a common loot card which can be purchased pretty cheap. They originally shipped with Wrathgate, then were later reissued in the Reign of Fire expansion.

The Landro's Gift Box loot card is redeemable for one Landro's Gift Box. As the title suggests, you collect it from Landro Longshot in Booty Bay, the goblin who passes out all of the WoW TCG loot. What makes this item so much fun is the possibility of what can be inside. Although the Landro's Gift loot card is very common, the loot that comes from it can be very uncommon.

Landro's Gift Box WoW Loot

Most of the time you'll see one of the following items…

  • Sandbox Tiger
  • Papa Hummel's Pet Biscuit
  • Path of Cenarius

…as was the case with this guy.

X-51 Nether-Rocket WoW Mount…but once in awhile, if you get really lucky…one of the following mounts may be in there:

  • Riding Turtle
  • Reins of the Swift Spectral Tiger
  • Reins of the Spectral Tiger
  • X-51 Nether-Rocket X-TREME
  • X-51 Nether-Rocket
  • Big Battle Bear

Most of those mounts sell for hundreds on ebay..!

Imagine if this were to happen to you…

At only around $15 a pop, Landro's Gift Box is a pretty affordable and exciting risk. 😉

Throne of the Tides Loot Cards

September 3, 2011 By Garwulf Leave a Comment

Cryptozoic has revealed the names of the three new loot cards that will be part of the upcoming WoW TCG expansion, entitled: “Aftermath: Throne of the Tides”.

No image previews are available at this time – of either the loot or the loot cards themselves – but we do know the names…

The rare loot is going to be a new ground mount, as mentioned in a previous Throne of the Tides announcement. This new mount is going to be a Tallstrider – the first mount of its type in the game.

The uncommon loot is a novelty item of some sort, known as the Throwing Starfish. My guess is that it will be something similar to the Paper Airplane, in that it will probably be some sort of item that you throw ‘at' or ‘to' other players.

Lastly, the new common loot is going to be another pet, of course. This one's going to be called Bloat the Bubble Fish. I'm thinking this will be a humorous floating ‘blowfish type' of aquatic creature – kind of like a balloon pet.

As more info comes in, I'll be sure to post it. 🙂

  • Rare Loot: Wasteland Tallstrider – 1 in 242 booster packs
  • Uncommon Loot: Throwing Starfish – 1 in 121 booster packs
  • Common Loot: Bloat the Bubble Fish – 1 in 11 booster packs

War Party Hitching Post Video Preview

May 17, 2011 By Garwulf Leave a Comment

The following is a short video I found on YouTube which demonstrates the on use effect of the War Party Hitching Post WoW loot card. Unfortunately, the player is not partied with anyone so you don't get to see how awesome this loot can be once you start forming a posse, but you can still get the idea. Were that player in a party or raid however, all of the partied players would be able to summon horses from the War Party Hitching Post.

Someone seriously needs to put together a capitol city raid with everyone mounted atop one of the horses summoned from this loot, then post the video on YouTube.

Anyway… here's a quick and simple preview of the War Party Hitching Post…

I like the hammer swinging animation before the War Party Hitching Post is built, i.e., summoned. That's definitely a nice touch.

The War Party Hitching Post loot card is available in booster packs from the latest expansion set for the WoW TCG — War of the Elements. It's a rare loot card – found in only 1 in 121 packs.

For additional info on this loot card, please see this page.

Swift Spectral Tiger vs Spectral Tiger

November 28, 2010 By Garwulf 5 Comments

Please visit the updated comparison guide on the Spectral Tiger page. The skins haven't changed, but some of this info is obsolete.

World of Warcraft patch 4.0.1 introduced the speed normalization of all mounts. This means that rare (level 75 Journeyman riding skill) and epic (level 150 Artisan riding skill) mounts now both travel at 100% increased speed.

Because of this, it's caused the rare versions of certain BoE WoW TCG Loot mounts to become just as valuable as their epic cousins. When buying loot cards such as the Spectral Tiger, players will now have the opportunity to either utilize both versions of the mount at 100% speed -or- sell one of them on the auction house for an ungodly sum of gold.

Spectral Tigers can fetch in upwards of 100K gold on most realms. 😯

So what's the difference between the two mounts, other than one being rare and one being epic? Well… not too much really.

Here's a side-by-side comparison of the Reins of the Swift Spectral Tiger (epic) and Reins of the Spectral Tiger (rare) mounts.

Reins of the Swift Spectral Tiger

Reins of the Swift Spectral Tiger

Reins of the Swift Spectral Tiger

Reins of the Spectral Tiger

Reins of the Spectral Tiger

Reins of the Spectral Tiger

As you can see, the only real discernable difference is the absence of leg armor on the rare version. So really, they're not much different.

With both mounts now traveling at the same 100% increased speed post 4.0.1, it comes down to whether or not you prefer your Spectral Tiger with or without leg armor.

WoW TCG Worldbreaker Loot Preview: Mottled Drake

November 20, 2010 By Garwulf Leave a Comment

With the new Worldbreaker expansion for the WoW TCG, comes an all new trio of exciting loot rewards. The premium loot to be found in packs of Wordbreaker is the Mottled Drake flying mount. The Mottled Drake loot card is found in only 1 out of 242 booster packs of Worldbreaker, making this a very rare card.

Here's a sneak preview of this all new dragon mount…

The mount is bind on equip, which means you can buy, sell or trade it in-game.

Dealers are pre-selling this loot card, along with the Grim Campfire and Landro's Lil XT loot items – also from the Worldbreaker expansion. The Mottled Drake loot card is fetching around $350-$400 now on ebay, which is pretty typical of most new mount loot. That may seem expensive, but it's roughly more than half of what it would cost t try and pull this card from a pack.

At an average of $70 apiece with S&H, one would have to spend around $700 on Worldbreaker booster packs before they pulled this card. I mean… you could get lucky and pull it from the first few packs, but then again… if you're unlucky… well, you get the point. $350 is not so bad for a sure thing. 😉
