WoW TCG Loot Cards - World of Warcraft Trading Card Game Loot

Ethereal Portal… Only giant-size

November 3, 2010 By Garwulf Leave a Comment

Here's a Hi-Def look at the new Ethereal Portal loot item from the Icecrown Expansion Set. The Ethereal Portal is the reward for redeeming the Portal Stone loot card.

The Ethereal Portal is basically a much more visually impressive version of the standard hearthstone. It shares the same 30 minute cooldown as the standard hearthstone, which means, no… you don't get an additional hearthstone cooldown with this item. 😉

Have a look at the hi-def video posted below, paying particular attention to what happens at :34 and again at 4:17…

It seems Dotmaster has found a way to render a mega-size Ethereal Portal, by activating it while mounted on their Traveler's Tundra Mammoth. This effect is likely a bug and may be addressed, but it makes for a pretty awesome graphic nonetheless.

There are a couple of other WoW TCG items used in the video as well… At 1:36 Dotmaster busts out his Sandbox Tiger, then at 2:19 the party really gets underway when the D.I.S.C.O. unit is deployed.

The Ethereal Portal is one of the more unusual and exciting on-use loot items in the game.

Portal Stone loot cards are selling for around fifty dollars at this time, which is actually a pretty good deal considering the rarity of this card. The Portal Stone loot card is rare, being inserted at a rate of approximately 1 in 121 packs. Icecrown booster boxes sell for about $60-$65 each, and contain 24 packs. At 1 in 121 booster packs, one could expect to root through up to five boxes of Icecrown before producing this loot card. At that rate, this card could end up costing hundreds of dollars.

$50 isn't so bad now, is it..? 😉

BlizzCon 2010 Exclusive Pet Loot: Deathy

November 1, 2010 By Garwulf Leave a Comment

This year's BlizzCon pet is the oh-so-awesome, volcanically destructive Murloc… Deathy! Folks who were either fortunate enough to attend BlizzCon 2010, or subscribe to the pay-per-view event on Directv, were each issued a redeemable loot code card for this Murlocalyptic in-game pet.

Unfortunately, however, the pet didn't ship with its animations in place quite yet. WoW players were a little disappointed to see that Deathy's animations were nowhere near as impressive as last year's exclusive pet, Grunty. Well… that's all been fixed now, and Deathy has been given some superb animations to help with his plight of striking fear into the hearts of coast dwellers and other aquatic life around Azeroth.

Deathy is now a fearsome, fire-breathing, smoke-ring-blowing, machine of destruction!

Behold Deathy's new animations…

Video provided by the wonderful folks at MMO-Champion.

Deathy is easily one of the coolest looking non-combat pets in the game right now. For those of you that were unable to get your hands on a BlizzCon Goodie Bag, or order the PPV event on Directv, you can still find Deathy loot codes and redemption cards for sale on ebay. Better hurry though, because supplies on this guy are limited, so prices will continue to increase.

Deathy binds to your entire WoW account, which means all of your existing characters, as well as future characters, will get to enjoy this awesome pet. How cool is that..?!

Here are a couple of Deathy loot code cards available on ebay right now…

WoW TCG Worldbreaker Expansion coming in November

October 31, 2010 By Garwulf 6 Comments

Update: Worldbreaker has an official release date of December 14, 2010.

The WoW TCG Worldbreaker expansion is scheduled to ship sometime in November 2010. Most retailers are announcing a November 16th street date, but it could possibly be the following week. As soon as a concrete release date for World breaker has been set, it'll be announced here on the site.

Worldbreaker will be the first WoW TCG expansion set to contain playable Worgen and Goblins.

The WoW TCG Worldbreaker Expansion contains three all new loot cards:

Mottled Drake

[phpbay]mottled drake loot, 3, “150192”, “non”[/phpbay]
The Mottled Drake is the ultra rare loot card found in the WoW TCG Worldbreaker set. The Mottled Drake is an epic flying mount, requiring 225 riding skill to use. Mottled Drake is bind on equip, which means the item can be sold, bought or traded in-game prior to being used.

Mottled Drake WoW Mount

Judging by the tooltip, the Mottled Drake is probably going to look something like the Bronze Drake obtained from the timed event in Culling of Stratholme, but with a spotty or blotchy appearance.

The exact rarity is unknown, but it will likely be 1/242 packs.

Grim Campfire

[phpbay]grim campfire loot, 3, “150192”, “non”[/phpbay]
The Grim Campfire appears to be the rare loot card from the WoW TCG Worldbreaker expansion, likely to be inserted at a rate of 1/121 packs. Not too much is known about the Grim Campfire, but the tooltip suggests that it will probably be a more visually impressive alternative to the standard cooking fire, but without the uber Cozy Fire spirit buff. 😉

WoW TCG Grim Campfire

Based on the spell icon, it's expected that this fire may look something like the fires seen in Twilight Cultist areas.

Landro's Lil' XT

[phpbay]landro's lil xt, 3, “150192”, “”[/phpbay]
Landro's Lil' XT is the new pet loot found in the WoW TCG Worldbreaker expansion. It's possible that Landro's Lil' XT will be a super-common loot card with use charges, similar to some of the other consumable loot, like the Sandbox Tiger and Paint Bomb. However, there is no usage limit indicated on the tooltip, so it may be another rare loot card (1 in 121).

Landro's Lil XT WoW Pet Loot

Landro's Lil' XT will probably look and behave similar to the standard Lil' XT pet available from the Blizzard store, but who knows… maybe it'll have a few surprises of its own.

Win a Spectral Tiger Mount!

July 23, 2010 By Garwulf 4 Comments

For those of you who've always wanted your very own Spectral Tiger mount, but never had an extra $800 or so lying around so that you could buy one off ebay… well listen closely, 'cause here's your chance to nab one for free!

Cryptozoic Entertainment, producer of the WoW TCG, is hooking up hobby stores all across the country with some fabulous prizes to give away this weekend. These select hobby stores will be hosting Spectral Safari WoW TCG tournaments this Saturday and Sunday, July 24th and 25th.

Participants in the tournament will be competing with one of the 18 Class Starter Decks, which they will be given at random. Players who do well will receive additional booster packs from the Wrathgate Expansion. The winner of the tournament will be awarded their own Blazing Hippogryph WoW Mount!

But wait, there's more… all registered participants will be eligible to win a Spectral Tiger WoW Mount at the end of the event. You don't have to compete for it, you just have to be present for your chance to win! How awesome is that..?!

For those interested in signing up for an event in your area, please visit the Cryptozoic Forums for more information.

Better hurry though, because the first 25 Spectral Safari registrants receive a free loot code for a Landro's Pet Box!

UDE Points Program is Closed

June 21, 2010 By Garwulf 26 Comments

It's been awhile since players have been able to redeem UDE Points for WoW Loot. This is due to Upper Deck no longer handling the WoW TCG. Unfortunately, those of you with a lot of stored up UDE Points, or worse yet, UDE points cards, are likely going to be victims of this Blizz / UDE falling out.

UDE is no longer recognizing redeemable points for the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game. They are (supposedly) working towards a system that will allow players to spend the points they have on file. This may or may not happen, but what is certain is that those of you with non-redeemed points cards may as well use them to start your next BBQ. I seriously doubt that any UDE Points cards which have not been redeemed as of yet, will ever be redeemable through the Cryptozoic/Blizzard system moving forward.

It would be nice if Blizzard, Cryptozoic and Upper Deck could work together and find some sort of interim solution that would allow for UDE Points redemption. Perhaps simply make them all redeemable for Landro's Gift Boxes or something. It seems a shame that all of the non-redeemed UDE Points cards that are floating around out there have essentially no value now. Oh well… these things happen. People just have to be aware and strike while the iron's still hot.

UDE Points and WoW TCGThere is an official message displayed at the UDE Points Store, but it is only visible after logging in. It seems that UDE is working towards finding a solution that will offer some sort of consolation for unredeemed points, but there is no acknowledgment of unredeemed cards.

Any updates on the future redemption of existing UDE Points will be posted as information is obtained.

In the meantime, it's probably advisable to voice your opinion and concern on this matter in the official WoW TCG Forum. The more people that petition for this redemption of unspent points, the more likely it will happen, instead of it just being slyly swept under the rug.
